Guide 1

A CV that Pakistani employers actually read

Recruiters often give a CV only a quick first scan before deciding whether to read it properly. So the CV's job is not to impress - it is to make the shortlist easy to assemble at a glance.

Keep it short

Early in your career, aim for one page. A longer CV earns its extra space only when it carries genuinely relevant experience - not padding. Also leave out personal details a general CV does not need, such as your full home address, CNIC number and marital status, unless the employer or the official application instructions specifically ask for them. The instructions in each job advertisement always win over any general rule, including this one.

Order of sections

  1. Name, phone, email, city - one line each, no labels needed.
  2. A two-line profile: your role, your strongest skill, and one concrete result.
  3. Experience, newest first. Three bullets per role, each starting with an action verb and ending with a number where possible.
  4. Education with institution, degree and year.
  5. Skills that match the job ad - five or six, not twenty.

Write results, not duties

"Responsible for sales" is a duty. "Grew monthly sales from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 6.5 lakh in eight months" is a result. Every bullet that only names a duty could have been written by anyone who held the title; results are yours alone. Where you cannot use money, use time saved, people trained, error rates reduced or volume handled.

Common mistakes that cost interviews

None of this requires a paid template or a CV-writing service. A clean single column, a standard font, and honest, specific content beat a designed template with vague claims every time.
